Established in 1959, the Carneros Volunteer Fire Department “CVFD” was originally named the Edgerly Island Volunteer Fire Department.  CVFD operates as one of the volunteer departments under the Napa County Fire Department.  We are an all-risk department, providing emergency response to all types of emergency incidents.  This includes but is not limited to:  fire and rescue calls, medical emergencies, and public assists.  Our immediate coverage area consists of the Edgerly Island and Carneros areas, extending to the West at the Sonoma County line, to the north to the Browns Valley areas and Redwood Road, and to the east to the Solano County Line including the Napa airport industrial areas.  We also respond outside our initial response area for larger incidents such mutual aid requests in the Napa City area, and to other areas in northern Napa County.  In addition to Napa County, we respond to statewide emergencies as part of Napa County Strike Teams.

The Fire Department facility also provides a venue for various community events and meetings, such as the Edgerly Island Reclamation District and Milton Road community events.  These facilities are maintained by the CVFD members and the donations and generosity of our community and local businesses.

The Carneros Volunteer Fire Department’s primary mission is to provide high-quality, efficient, and cost effective fire protection services with state-of-the art emergency pre-hospital medical care within the communities we serve.

The Carneros Volunteer Fire Department is a recognized leader in the delivery of quality fire prevention and protection.  CVFD draws its strength from the skill and dedication of its members and community.  We believe that in the future, this source of strength will continue to be our most important asset.

The communities we serve offer a diverse and challenging professional experience for all of our members.  The Department strives to develop and promote a positive and rewarding work environment.  We attempt to provide the most up-to-date training and experience necessary to prepare our firefighters for career development and advancement.

The quality of service delivered by the CVFD depends on a spirit of cooperation between our administrative staff and each one of our firefighters.  Each one of us must be committed to excellence for ourselves and our community.  After all, it’s our community too.

Our main financial support comes from our fundraising events.  We currently have two annual fundraising events, the first is the Carneros Run a 5/10k marathon at the Artesa Winery and the second is our CampCarneros camping venue during the BottleRock Napa Valley music festival.
